went out the other day and the car seamed to be shifting well. I have a 74L with a centerforce clutch. I removed the bolt and nut assembly that was on the clutch slave lever by the spring. Everything was fine.
I took it out and it seamed to be a little stiff to shift into 1 and 2nd. I tried to do a burnout and it didn't hook. It just slipped and it stunk of burnt clutch. It was hard to get it into 1st and it ground when going into reverse.
At first, I thought I lost my free play because it didn't grip. But why did it grind like I wasn't disengaging enough?
I limped home and there seamed to be free play ( I removed the spring and there was some free movement). I adjusted the rod (extended it) and it finally stopped grinding going into gear but she's not hooking on full throttle. I can't find my TSB (#10) but Panteraplace says that there should be .102 of clearance. Where is this measured?
I'm making alot of noise with no power. I feel like a ricer.
Please help.

Hello Will,
How old is your clutch, this sounds familiar, this is one possibility.
I'll try to make this make sense.
If your disc is worn then your diaphram which the throw out bearing pushes on to release the clutch is closer towards the trans, at some point it does not completely backaway the throw out bearing from the diaphram,
so naturally we reset every thing and it's o k.
You can only get away with this so many time's and then with the limited stroke of the slave it will not stroke far enough to disengage & in my case it would not back the throw out bearing away from the diaphram and my throw out bearing went up in smoke, this forced me to replace the clutch.
I found at this point the clutch disc rivets were a cu*t hair away from really making a mess of my flywheel.
I did an economy disc R&R, new disc, new throw out bearing, lightly sanded flywheel and pressureplate and all is well, very smooth and hard hitting.
All the new stuff is coming with the new engine later.
