As a Pantera enthusiest who yearns to someday own a Pantera, I am wondering what is involved in converting the front L bumper to a pre-L looks. I really like the lines on the pre-L and would prefer to have one but would not turn down a good example of an L. I have seen several L conversions with varying degrees of artistic success! Am I talking blasphemy here?!

I took my '74L front bumper off. 4 nuts and 2 bolts and it's off. I think it looks better. It makes the car 6.5 inches shorter, 40+ pounds lighter, and I believe, less drag. I put nothing back on, but 4 caps in the little holes. I plan to mount 2 'pencil beam' spot lights behind the larger holes left from the struts. The bumper sits on the shelf and the struts are under the workbench. I can always put it all back! Marlin.
Can you install pre-L bumperettes once the L bumper is removed? I'd like to see a pic of your set up if it isn't too much trouble. Thanks! PS Would you also have to relocate the DeTomaso crest from the L bumper to the hood?

Yes! You can install the pre-L bumpers, but you must drill new holes for the little studs as they are in a different location. And the Front 'Amber' parking light also mounts differently, so you would have to modify the mounting of those lights. The crest!? yes if you want it, you'll have to remove it from the original bumper. I'll send a couple of photos to your email address. Regards.
