My 2511 is an early, rear-mounted ZF car. I have been using an aftermarket side-mount system, but now wish to convert 2511 to the factory side-mount system.

I have obtained the two factory ZF side-mount pieces and will need to install appropriate chassis sheet metal brackets. While Denny Finn can fabricate what is needed, I am wondering if anyone has some or all of the factory pieces for this conversion?

I realize the rear structure varies between the early and late cars in this area, but if factory pieces are available, that might be a better approach than just starting entirely from scratch.

Since a picture is said to be worth a thousand words, I’m posting two photos to help clarify the body sheetmetalI am seeking.

If anyone has any of the factory chassis-bracket sheet metal that might be of value in accomplishing this conversion, please let me know.

Thanks,

Larry

The POCA email list has been quite active responding to this request I also posted to that list.

I have learned the very last cars incorporated different chassis brackets and a removable bracket to mount the ZF.

Fabricating these two pieces appears to be an easier approach than trying to duplicate the L model system.

Agree that that is easier to fab up... Just curious (and I am curious) how to get enough "meat" on the threaded portions for the mount - the nuts that are mounted to the structure of the vehicle.

It looks like the 9000 cars probably had the mount fabbed up with nuts welded onto the sheet metal brace before the car was assembled.

Good luck with the project. I am sure your crew will come up with a robust design.
