Correct radiator cap pressure rating??? | The De Tomaso Forums

Am having some problems and would like to clarify what pressure rating the cap is that sits near the end of the radiator neck?

Also, do you all run a separate header tank or not?

I have seen a couple of variations.

Mine is 15 ftlbs and there's an overflow tank, looks original

Hi Mikael,

So do you have one of those fixed caps on the radiator neck and then the 15 lb cap on the header tank which I think is on the inner wing?

Phil, here's what I have. It says Italy on the radiator cap, but it's not original, it's one I had to buy at DeTomaso 50 year in Italy when the spring on the old one rusted through. It also says 1.0 bar. So this is the pressure-keeper, on the radiator

The overflow cap's underside, no pressure at all, vents to the atmosphere I'd say

Is that what you meant?
