COWL VENT INSEERT

Those guys??

I probably can cast you one out of Plastic or fiberglass if you can’t find one. I made the mold for the driver side.

the middle one was my first try, the left one the second, the right side, the original.

Check with some vendors first like PI Motorsports and such…

I offer my help is last Resort if you don’t find anything! It’s quite a bit of work to make a mold, and then a casting! That part will be fiberglass, resin or plastic ..

And you didn’t mention which way your windshield wipers fold? Are they parked on the left or on the right?

if the park on the left and you can’t find anybody that has one I will help you -  (I use my part to make a mold, ) if they the park on the right, I can’t

What material are you making them out of?

I've looked for them from Mike B and Wilk. but they don't have the correct ones. Mine rest on the right.

i am not making them i am looking for one  the respondant making from resin

I probably can make the grill but I have to have one to make the mold with. My wipers rest on the left side! I just did the casting so I can try different locations on the sail panel for my gas cap without screwing my real panel up!
the wiper grill have to be done in resin I would think because it’s very thin casting..

Slojoe, as an alternative, Hall Pantera used to sell wiper delete cowl vent grilles. They were identical to the OEM grilles but with 2 differences; there was no hole for the splined wiper drive units and they were attached by tiny, black screws instead of pins. In order to use them with wipers, you’d have to drill a hole of the appropriate size in the appropriate place. Since Pantera’s were only produced with passenger side parking wipers for a few years, finding the used grille you’re looking for could be difficult but if you are reproducing them, just put the hole in the appropriate location. Years ago, Bob Byars (Precision Pro-Formance) told me he had EVOD reproduce the wiper grilles in billet aluminum but decided not to market them because they were too expensive. I wonder if EVOD still has the program?

Hall Pantera is also an often overlooked source of used parts. Don’t forget; they are closed on Mondays.

I was doing some checking on my car, and it seems to be that the grill left and right the same…

Please correct me if I’m wrong…

if you’re still have your right grill could go to a 3D printing shop and let them scan the right grill you have (send to them) , and they can print you a copy of it! Or 2 and replace both to look the same…

just have to make sure their table is big enough for the grill!

or a second solution… Go to a Water jet  facility and let them scan it and get 2 grills cut out of quarter inch aluminum and just finish it by hand (rounding the corners) and either make bolt on or put studs (act as pins) in them. Powder coat, flat black, or polish them and your golden!

the water jet solution is the one I would go with!

We 3D print prototype parts and some parts for very low production. If anyone goes that route, be mindful about the plastic to be used. There are many choices. Many would not be suitable. High temp and UV tolerance can be a problem. It would be disheartening to go through all that effort and expense of 3D printing the vents, mounting them on your car and then driving to a car show on a warn sunny day only to see them warp.

There is a difference between the left and right side. They follow the curve of the hood and windshield. They are not parallel to each other. There is also a slight curve that follows the body.

You could have the metal laser cut and then give it the correct curve. I broke one of mine taking it off. those are cast AL and really brittle. I SS one would be cool. Probably would have to use screws rather than the pegs to secure it.

it really pays off when you put the glasses on… Lol

so if you flip one  upside down, they would be the same - just have to move the hole to the other section on one of them.. making it a left and a right… which shouldn’t be a problem on the computer!

in that thickness is still would go with aluminum just to make it easier to confirm it to the body contour…

If you can find a set of these Hall Pantera replica blank ones then you can drill the hole for your wipers. They are held in with screws and not pins. I found a replacement original for one of mine that broke so I have these on the shelf.
