After two years of virtually trouble free ownership my cat started to crunch when ever i tried to get her into reverse so as a first port of call I read all threads about the ZF, it never ceases to amaze me how much info this site contains, so i decided to start at the easy end of the scale, I removed the cover from the gear selector at the gearbox and greased up as much as I could including backing out the reverse light switch then i removed the gear lever gate and rubber and greased that up also wherever else I could find the linkage touching any other parts and today I went for a nice long drive and she was perfect all the gears felt smoother and NO crunching in reverse so it just shows these older cars do need plenty of love and attention.
I would just like to comment on all the info on this site, whenever I have an issue I ALWAYS check this site and it has NEVER failed to give me lots of very useful help and information and what a great feeling when something starts to go wrong and I manage to fix it with the minimum of effort and cost.
Thanks to all of you who post keep up the good work.
