2511 is currently running the GTS exhaust headers and GTS Ansa mufflers.

While the headers are fine as is, the GTS mufflers are generally agreed to be high horse power thieves. I have decided it is time to do something in terms of different mufflers.

I am aware that some owners have gutted the GTS mufflers to regain the horsepower, but I am a bit concerned about the noise level resulting from gutting the mufflers.

As I do wish to retain a basically stock look, none of the current vendor offerings that I could view online will work for me.

Some years ago PIM offered mufflers that might have been a good choice, but they no longer seem to be offered?

I believe some owners have actually shortened aftermarket mufflers and added the correct tips, and that is an approach that would be acceptable for me.

I am curious what others have used that might fill my requirements.

Thanks, Larry

Quite a bit of discussion on this subject in the exhaust sticky in this sub-forum but IIRC Dan and Dave did a back to back muffler/exhaust comparison along with the intake manifold testing and as far as the stock appearing systems found Wilkinson's stainless exhaust are a significant improvement over the so-called "GTS System" in power and eliminating the ~2-2.5 krpm resonance.

I must admit, my mind is trained to seeing the stock cans on the rear end of a Pantera.

Wilkinson's are the best alternative IF you need something resembling the originals.

You are being limited by that criteria.

My discussion with Wilkinson was that "he" had the system dynoed and there was a 75hp gain over the GPS system.

His headers are stainless also and I think originally he had them available as mill finish and polished. I don't recall him saying anything about ceramic coatings?

Check with him because he makes these things in batches and I've heard he sold out on them?
I got the Wilkinson GTS headers & mufflers. Very loud with a mind numbing resonance. 3 months later baffles in the cans broke, spot welds failed. Very cheap, thin gauge steel used. Customer service was non existent. I cut off the mufflers used the old style PIM mufflers.
I paid Snap-on prices and got Harbor Freight quality. At least Harbor Freight will replace or refund...
Wilkinson's exhaust is a little loud. Not to bad IMO. They do flow like crazy over stock. Be ready to tune your carb after installation. I have not had any issues yet with broken welds knock on wood . But be fore warned, the black coating is junk, you'd be better off getting rid of it. Fifteen minutes and it looked like crap.
