Hi,

Does anyone have any idea about the whereabouts of my 1969 De Tomaso 103 Formula 2 car between 1971 and 2003?

The car (chassis 103-001) was bought from De Tomaso by Italian works Alfa Romeo driver, Spartaco Dini, sometime between April and June of 1970. He raced it a few times in 1971 but after its last race, the ownership trail goes cold.

I bought the car from a Milanese chap called Marco Antonucci in September 2003, but he never paid his share of the delivery and has subsequently refused to answer any of my e-mails.

The car is currently undergoing a ground-up restoration and should be ready by spring 2005.

I would be grateful to hear from anyone who remembers anything about the car.

Thanks

Ben Tyer

(P.S for those who are interested, the photograph is of Dini at the Modena Autodrome, April 1970)

Hi Michael,

What’s it worth? Difficult to say as it’s a unique car.

Although not in the same league as a Dino 166 (in terms of value) I would like to think it’s up there with the best Lotus, Brabham and Matra Formula 2 cars from the 1968-71 period.

By the time the restoration is completed, well over $100,000 will have been invested so I guess that’s a good place to start.

Thanks and best regards,

Ben
