Distributor on european Pantera

Hi everybody,

I have trouble with my distributor.
I suppose a owner before me modified the distributor with an electronic kit.
It seem to be an old one.
I would like to change it by a new one.
I have to know if the original distributor on my 74's Pantera (out of the factory 12/1973) was a single or a dual point ?
The distributor # is D2ZF 12127 FA

What kind of distributor on european Pantera during this period ?

That would be a US 351C 4V (Cobra Jet) motor equipped originally with a dual point distributor.

Later Euro DeTomasos were equipped with 351C motors sourced from Australia, but yours was sourced from the US.

I would advise you to replace the distributor with a breakerless "Duraspark" distributor and module.

If I want to replace an original distributor (not an electronic one) with what kind i can do it ?

I suppose all the motorcraft #12127 are not good ?
I search topics about it on the forum and i saw that owners choose a single point motorcraft.

Hi,
Perhaps none of us still have a Motorcraft distributor.

Mine was changed to a Mallory Dual Point years ago....

Is the European version any different than the US one?

I have my old dizzy at home in a box and can pull it oiut for the reference if needed.

I'm interested even with american ones.

I asked a friend of mine with a euro 71 Pantera equiped with an original single point Motorcraft.

I know (thanks to M. Pence) "That would be a US 351C 4V (Cobra Jet) motor equipped originally with a dual point distributor"

I only want to find the good Motorcraft (as the origin) for my car and go for a long long run on the highway.

I have the original distributor out of my US 73 #6476 ??? you want the #'s off it ... I dont think a 71 distributor was different. The later years maybe.

Any distributor designed for a US 351C, 351M, 400, 429 or 460 will drop in and work. Single point, dual point, doesn't matter. Adjust for the proper dwell, set the timing at idle and motor on dude.
