How is the car you are working on? Are you just working on alignment or much deeper in a build?

When I did my car I did a lot of work to make the doors fit well.

I built this door hanger which really helped in working with the doors:

As far as door fit, the door jambs were carved out of lead. I removed the lead and cut the door jamb to fit the door. In the front I actually welded on a steel rod to bring the door gap in.

Gaps are tight now!

Other then that it's basic hinge alignment. As you work with the hinges you can see what the change is. Side to side aligns the depth of the door to the fender. Forward and back will control your gaps.

Once aligned drill a hole through your door/jamb into the hinge so you can nail the same spot after paint with a pin. If your car has been rebuilt before it may have an alignment hole already.
