Dull paint job

I believe when the WD40 evaporates you will have more problems than you had before. I, too, tried every kind of polish, color sanding, wax and buffers and the paint would improve until a week later. Your most satisfying approach would be new paint.

The very best polish I've ever found is "Liquid Glass". It's available from Pep Boys and other dealers. You can also find it on the web with a search. It goes on easy and it even wipes away easy, but most importantly, it lasts! It ain't cheap, $14-20 per 16oz bottle, but worth it! I think if you'll try it you'll believe in it like me. I've used it since 1986. So far I've only used it once on each vehicle I've owned. In 1986 I polished a mustang with it and never polished it again. I sold it in 1990 and it was still beading water in places. The trick is to let it cure in the hot sun for at least 4 hours and then apply a second coat and let it also cure before washing or weting. It will be so slick and hard it is difficult to hang your finger nail on the paint.

The Pep Boys stuff sounds good. I have had luck with Meguiars Show Car Glaze #7, and then a good Carnuba wax on top. Some polishes have abrasives, and can put more scratches in that taking out. If you can, polish it in a garage under florescent lights, as you can really see your progress then, and then wax. There is something with that type of light that you can really see minor scratches that are preventing a good shine when you are working on your paint.
