I received a phish last night supposedly from Pay Pal, it was warning me about phishing, reported my account was restricted and requested me to log on via their link to resolve the problem.

I knew this was a set up, just for grins I right clicked on the link and took a look at its properties, and sure enough, instead of a web address it was an .exe file.

They are getting more creative as their old scams get known. They are creating problem alerts that would make you respond to the problem. I've received numerous emails from supposed sellers demanding money owed on bids. Since you haven't bid on the items, you would tend to answer them to dispute the claim.
I went to Google to download the Earth program that allows you to veiw from sattelites. Insted I got a nasty virus called Surfsidekick that hijacked my browser and had to wipe out Windows and reinstall. I read that Sony has some anti theft program that when you play their cd, it puts a program on your pc that restricts your ability to copy. It should be criminal to load any program without permission. I can tell you...It will only get worse. I use an email client hosted by earthlink, so it does not come directly to my pc... I also use a Mozilla firefox browser because most viruses are desigened aroung Internet Explorer by Micosft.
I agree totally. My explorer became with so infected with adware that cannot be easily removed that I too use Mozilla Firefox. Several Adware programs like Win AntiVirus attach themselves and you have to actually hack to get them out. The anti virus and anti adware programs all don't take them out.
