Looking at my 71/74 Pantera Parts book it list the engine codes as DOZZ, D1ZZ. This doesn't match my other books for engines. Is it supposed to be DOZE and D1ZE?
Also, since the Cleveland is a Big block, will the other big blocks like the 428, 429 fit into a Pantera without modification?

Thanks, Pete

Never got into the engine codes used 30 yrs ago for the Pantera. Most Pantera people could care less what block-code is on there, as long as it runs good enough to scare them occasionally. The 351C is not a big-block, either; it is what Ford once called a 'mid-block'- neither small nor big. The 429 & 460 have different motor mount bolt patterns and different bellhousing bolt patterns from the 351C. They are the same as the 351M & 400M truck engines, though. The only swappable parts between the bunch are the distributor, carb & air cleaners. The 429/460 block is some 5" longer than a 351C, presenting many problems for engine swappers, but its been done. Bring money, though.
I'm looking at a book I have, called, High Performance Ford, Engine Parts Interchange.

It lists 351C block numbers as, DOAE-D two bolt mains, DOAE-C and D3ZE-A four bolt mains.
In another section it lists 351C casting numbers as 70-71 DOAE-A,DOAE-C,DOAE-E, DOAE-G, DOAE-J, and DOAE-L, 1972-74 D2AE-DA, all as Ford Part # DOAZ-D, two bolt main block. Shows 351C Australian as Ford Part # D6HM-L, does not show any casting number.
1971 351C, DOAE-B, -D, -F, -H, four bolt main.
1971 Boss 351C, D1ZE-A, -B, Ford Part #D1ZZ-D, four bolt main.
1971-74 351C Cobra Jet, D2AE-CA, Ford Part #D1ZZ-A, D3ZZ-A, four bolt main.
1972 351C High Output, D2AE-EA, Ford Part #D1ZZ-D, four bolt main.
Thats all the numbers I can find for these engines, hope it helps.
