Engine compartment question

Hi Guys,

I am working on a 1969 Mangusta chassis no 650. I notice lots of little differences in the rear space-frame from previous geese I have worked on (all later cars). My question is would this car have had engine compartment sound deadening material in the same locations as the 1970 cars? As the car came to me with it on the bulk head in front of the engine but not either side of the engine where the coil & header tank mount. Any thoughts?

Hi Johnny,
My car is 670.
I have sound deadening, or heat reflective material, in the engine compartment on both sides of the engine on the sheer panels in the area where the trailing links pass by.

The correct thing for the engine compartment sides for the 670 is spray on "undercoating" on the full interior of the panels plus a separate riveted on steel frame about 1 square foot in area that secures an asbestos sheet just outboard of the exhaust manifolds. The asbestos is over the sound deadening "undercoating.

We (myself and the owner) decided to put the sound deadening felt on either side as well, (same as the later cars) because we think it looks better.
