My car at idle, would die when I turn on the headlights. I installed a new 100 amp. alt,
voltage reg. and a new battery.
It still dies....??

New coil also....I'm wondering if when I switch the lights on, if it's starving juice from the Electronic Ign.?....
Do you have an ammeter? If so, what's the current draw when you turn on the lights? Are they a "normal" brightness? Sounds like a possible ground.
I will check that out... I have 80w H4 lamps in the car. Also, I wonder if the headlamp door motor is pulling too much amps....
Have you checked the grounding stud behind the tach? Common culprit for weird electrical problems.

Yes, I have checked all grounds that I could find including the one behind the dash, on mine (74, behind the speedo), since my turn signal flashers do not work, I've been in there several times....Thanks for your support!!!!!
I have done nothing to the E.I. since I've owned the car, the engine fires right up. I was just talking to one of my mechanic buddies, he said diconnect the headlamp motor and see if just the lights kill the engine. If it does'nt then I know that the headlamp motor is drawing to much amps / hooked up wrong /....etc.
FYI, Found a bad wire (burnt) in the yellow connector for the headlamp relay. Got that fixed, new ground. I have a bad wire (yellow) somewhere in the loom across the dash for the turn signals. Made a clean, soldered splice (fused) from the key on (yellow) and conneceted it to the yellow wire within the red connector. Also, added another ground from the neg. side cable where it bolts to the brakes box, ran it into the car and bolted to the steering colunm support brace. I think I'll add a couple more grounds just to be safe. All the newer cars have allot of redundant grounds...hmmmm
