Engine Hatch Cover Gasket | The De Tomaso Forums

The gasket material surrounding my engine hatch cover is old and dry rotted after 39 years. Any idea as to what material I should use as a replacement?

And, what are owner's using for insulation on the firewall to reduce the cabin temperatures?

...I used 1/8 Inch THICK Rubber Tape 1.0 inch wide for the gasket; and 1/2 inch thick foil backed (Both Sides) Heat Blanket for Insulation On Both sides of the Firewall. You can get the Blanket in 1.0 Inch thickness But You won't be able to get the Gas Tank back into the original position!

You can find Rubber Tape at an 'Electrician Supply' Or Slice-up a Sheet of Rubber, and go even Thicker! The Thermal Insulating Blanket Material can be found at J.C.Whitney.com ...
