I can start the car in any gear and I have no back up light. Before buying a new expensive switch, I wanted to see if someone had just bypassed the system. I've seen that a few times on this car, wires not fully understood has been cut and new wires fabricated. Can't really blame the Italian mechanic trying to fix the car with no wiring diagram... Confused

When looking under front left carpet I found 2 wire sets just laying there, cut. I can't find them on my (Deauville) wiring diagram. They come out of the tunnel just in front of the parking brake, but it's not parking brake wires because the parking brake warning light works. Can you tell me what these are for (and where I find the wires to get the intial problem mentioned at the top solved)?

1. wire set:
Brown________thick___Constant "+"
Green/Yellow__thick___Ground

2. wire set:
Green________thick___Ignition "+"
Orange_______thick___?
Brown________thick___Ground
Brown________thick___?
Red__________thin____?
Red__________thin____?

By the way, looking for the starter wire, the Deauville diagram says pink, but I have blue and brown wires on my starter relay?

Thanks

Best guess: seatbelt warning wires?

Could it be pre-wired for power seats? According to the supplement deauville parts manual it was a system with 3 motors. The total adds up to 8 wires, 2 for each motor and 2 for the power supply.
Got the same wires under the passengerside carpet as well?

maybe Wellis can help since he has a later model which probably has the actual Maserati quattroporte 3 powerseats.

As for the starting in any gear. It would be most likely that there is a wiring problem under the gearshift. I have no personal experience in looking for bad wiring in thatt area so I can't help you out with tips.

The wiring should be basic ford wiring and hook up. Maybe the guys from www.c6-c4.com can help with the wiring and other tranny problems. They have some interesting stuff anyway to check out.

Best regards,

Chiel
Could be. What I know now is that it's not related to the backup/neutral wiring I was looking for, so I've decided to ignore them for a while. Because I found the relevant wires coming through the bottom of the car on the left, behind the right foot kick panel for the driver.

Switch on the C6 was faulty, so (again) some Italian mechanic just cut everything and put it together so the car could start.

Got another switch and found the backup light wire (Green). So that's solved now. The neutral safety circuit also works on the new switch, but I can't find where the starter wire has been shorted to avoid the switch. Actually I can't find the starter wire at all. All I know is that the wire at the starter relay is thick and brown, while the wiring diagram (Deauville) says "Viola".
Does anyone know where the starter wire was cut to go through the neutral safety switch? Where physically? And did it go through, or was it controlled by a relay.
I am back from my weekend away. I have to go get the longchamp out of the garage to look at the wires, but here are a couple of comments.

1) Seat belt sign. I purchased #2059, and interestingly it has a seat belt warning light on the left of the wheel, on the dash, so someone was putting them on the cars. No response from the factory yet on this.
2) My car claims it is a series II, not III and does not have power seats.

More when I get a chance to look at the car.
