Unfortunately was pursuaded to sell my liteweight Lancia Rally MonteCarlo. The new owner is fitting a nice 3.2 ALFA V6 Twin-Turbo, ( We are lucky here in Joburg to have one of the best Alfa 'Capo'engine builders. The fastest Track car in my group here runs a Alfa V6 T.-Turbo/Noble designed ULTIMA.-I hope to better his time this year in my nearly completed Grp.4 Pantera replica.....) So I have started fitting the Quad-cam., ally. Ferrari V8 plus Transaxel clip out of the Lancia into the Fiat 600.- Its all in a nice compact subframe mounted with 4x rubber mounts, ala Lancia Stratos / Beta / Montecarlo, with the suspention & brakes of the 308 all hanging off it. Bolting it in the Fiat 600 amidships was dead eaasy.- (The great thing about this set-up is the ease with which one can quickly pop-in different gears into the back of the beautifull ally. cast gearbox covers. - I have a 'road' set and a 'track' set of gears which go in smartely (10mins,) when I want to gear the whole works down for say ; Zwartkops or Kyalami Race trk.)
Now i need to fit the frt.susp.& brakes along with the steering and gearshift.
Bodies been fettled ; 2.5inch top-chop with 6inch body extention just behind the door,- window apertures fitted with Lexan.
Will fit my old Campy's off my Pantera with low profiles and paint the sucker Ferrari Red. Or mabe Yellow. Leaving the motor comparment open for all to see : Painted Ally Camcovers, 4x DCNF Webers and a trick bunch o snakes sticking out the back. Rear deck-lid raised..........
Should be a Howler. Theses V8's sound very different.........The Lancia was around 2000lbs with this motor, so with a target weight here of +- 1300lbs, it should fairly bustle along.
I'll post pics, as I finish... Cheers tai.

My 308 V8 / Fiat 600 project has taken a back seat at present since we are finishing up my Pantera GRP4 Replica, (almost there ) and are tryng to complete my new Daily Driver '37 Jaguar SS 2-door Coupe. The rolling chassis is ready now for the body & I have finally sourced the massive P100 headlamps and 17 x 8 'knock-off' wire-rims. The chassis is fitted with a Jag XJS V12 motor ( pre-HE...) and all XJS running gear & auto box, good brakes, l.s.d., I.R.S. etc.
Becuse of the incredibly long bonnet (hood) we have been able to relocate the motor very far back in the chassis for better handling. The finished car will weight -+ 1000lbs less than the Donor, so should fairly bustle along nicely, despite the auto 'slush' box.
Do i hear u say Jag didnt make a SS 2-door coupe ? U are correct, they should have. What we have done is to weld up the back doors, sliced 10 inches out of the body shell just behind the frt. window and then added the 10inches back into the bonnet area, retaining the orginal wheelbase thereby. Looks awesome. The factory should have built them. The car will look virtually stock, the orginal even had twin exhaust pipes out the back which now will emit a V12 howl rather than the old straight six sound....
Will post pics when its ready.
Any other interesting projects out there ???
Cheers,tai
