OK, I’m trying to sort the wiring in my engine bay and have a few wires on the firewall that is pussling me.

1) The loose black wire in the picture appear to be a ground wire – I can’t find it in any of the wirings diagrams – any suggestions to where it should be connected? It may be obsolete if it's related to the ignition as it has been changed to MSD wiring.

2) The yellow one from the voltage regulator – is that supposed to be connected to ground?

3) Is the right side pin on the starter solenoid used on panteras?

Any help is appreciated

Kristian

I think the factory harness had a ground wire for the coil/regulator/relay support plate, but I thought it had an ring terminal. Looks like a spade in your photo.

The yellow wire goes to a capacitor to dampen alternator whine coming into your radio.

The odd stud on your starter relay is to bypass the ballast resistor and provide full voltage to the coil for stronger spark while cranking. Not sure if your MSD system accomodates that feature.

I agree.

Should not need the radio suppression capacitor with a modern solid state voltage regulator. They were necessary with the old mechanical regulators, but they are gone and not missed. Let the yellow wire dangle.

Should already have full voltage to the MSD with associated electronic distributor. Only the original points system needs the ballast resistor, and a full voltage kick for starting.
