I've used the search function and read some of the old threads on the flasher switch and I'm aware that all the power in the dash apparently goes through the switch. Unfortunately I now have to change mine. I was teaching some one how to drive stickshift in my car and he accidently turned on the flashers. Of course I couldn't turn the flashers off and my switch went bad then. In what I considered very McGyver like move at the time, I crazy glued the thing in the off position to get me home. I thought I'd change the switch when it was convenient. The weird thing was that now the key won't shut off the engine and a couple of problems the developed lately like my cooling fans not working and one headlight wouldn't go on have healed themselves. I guess what I'm asking is has anyone had a similiar problem and would it be safe to assume that just changing to a new flasher switch will make everything better? Does anyone have a recommendation on a source for the switch itself? I don't want to cobble something from another car that will work if I modify something. I'd also like a recommendation on what the easiset way to change the thing. Can I just pull it out the front of the dash and attach the wires as they are on the old switch or is this going to be another Panters nightmare? I'd also prefer to use one of the vendors that support us and not some guy from Flea Bay that is going to sell me a switch that is 35 years old. Thanks everyone.
