Hey, has anybody out there (besides Todd)performed the 1989-94 Ford Aerostar window motor conversion outlined in PanteraPlace? It seems pretty straightforward, but in searching for window motors, I've only been able to find those with 3-hole motor mounts. Todd specifically states to get a (earlier version) 4-hole motor mount. Is it possible that he's referring to the flange surrounding the drive gear (and not the motor mount)? I just want to make sure I get the right motors.

I did the conversion, very straight forward, but it takes some doing w/ a knowledgable parts guy to find the motors. You definitely want the 4 bolt motors, however, I went to my local junkyard and got 2 three bolt motors and used them as cores. I purchased new motors that were about $85 each with a $30 core. I paid $25 for the 2 motors so when I turned them in so I saved $35 bucks. There was one thing that was a little confusing, I downloaded the template and thought it was drawn to scale, the template needs to be redrawn to the measurements.

When the job was done the windows were approximately twice as fast up & down.

Definitely a worthwhile project.

I got them at a local parts house, and they didn't care about the 3 hole cores for new 4 hole units. To clarify, the units were rebuilt ones not new, although new ones were available through the local Ford dealer for about twice the price.

I just found this info from the report I did to the group after I finished the conversion.

Just picked up my window motor for the passenger side. The Cardone part number is 42-376. The Cardone part number for the driver side is 42-377. Cardone is a remanufacturer of all kinds of electric auto parts. Pep Boys and Advanced Auto Parts and the others should have a Cardone parts book to order from.

You still need to have the parts guy call his Cardone supplier and have them physically eyeball the units. I believe the 3 bolt & 4 bolt may have the same number.

The post with the above info was from June of this year.
