Well I never thought I was going to write this but the time has come that MAYBERRY Lincoln has SOLD out .Ford Motor Co. wanted to reduce its dealer body by 300 dealers and made us an offer to sell that we couldnt turn down. We were the oldest Lincoln mercury dealer still around dating back to 1947. In 1973 I started selling PANTERAS and most likely sold more than any dealer in its time. I think we have sold between 350-400. I plan on semi retiring so I guess I will play alittle more golf and relax. I still plan on keeping my hands on the Pantera market both in restoring and selling parts. I still have a huge amount of parts so I will continue buying and selling a few Panteras as time goes by. The pantera has always been a passion of mine so I want to continue keeping them on the road. If anyone ever needs a question answered or wants me to restore there car please send me an email at mikedmayberry@hotmail.com.....thanks, mike

Gosh

mixed emotions for me Mike.

I'm happy for you, that this offer came at a time when you were ready to play a little more golf and relax. I'm also happy to hear you will remain involved with the Pantera hobby.

but I'm a bit saddened that Mayberry Lincoln Mercury is closing its doors.

I'd like everyone to know I bought my Pantera from Mike, and I always knew, when the time came to buy one, Mayberry Lincoln Mercury is where I'd find my Pantera.

Keep in touch.

Funny, 'sold out' has the double definition. I like the version of YOURS best!

Great to hear, Mike, in that same bittersweet way George mentioned. But hey, time marches on, memories live forever, and long as you've got a somewhat comfortable 'tomorrow', all is good.

We will look for your parts availability to increase and your golf score to decrease.
Another 'great idea' born in the Jack Nasser era. (It costs too much to maintain multiple brands and we have too many dealers and they cut into one another's profit margin) Top management simply don't understand that when a dealership closes the sourounding dealer never recoup 100% of their planned volume. If it was so expensive to maintaing the Mercury franchise why did Mark Fields launch 18 other Lincoln products. I just don't get it. And these guys make humungus salaries + bonuses. The last great guy at the top was Jim O'Connor after he left everything when out the window, dealers and employees became numbers.

All absurdities aside Mike, I feel for you and your employees. Keep busy, try to turn the page. Have fun find another niche. Be it with the New DeTomaso, the old DeTomasoes or heck even Santiago's planned project in the works.
