Ford Ecoboost Car Show at the Ford Ecoboost 400 and NASCAR Sprint Cup Championship. Great time with over 150 cars Ford Only cars (mostly Mustangs), one '55 Thunderbird, one mud slugging monster truck, an old Galaxy and my Pantera. Before the race, Richard Petty, Jack Rousch and Edsel Ford II examined each car and each one selected a car to be their pick of the Best in Show. Depite 75% of the cars there having Rousch racing parts, Rousch chose the '55 Thunderbird as his Best in Show. All three also chatted with the owners for a few seconds and signed autographs (mostly on the hood of the cars)

Edsel Ford II, surrounded by a gaggle of Ford executives, including CEO Mark Fields, stated that the Pantera brought back fond memories during a strange time for Ford MoCo. He wistfully said he would love to drive the car, but then confessed he might not bring it back.

Rest of the Ford cadre looked at the Pantera as if they had never seen one - oohing and aahing over that big 351 Cleveland stuck inside the tiny car.

Edsel picked the Pantera as his Best in Show car.

Race was great, opening show had a huge American flag being towed on the track, as it passed the grandstand out pooped the new GT40 and it sped around the track, awesome looking awesome sounding. This was the one prepped for LeMans.

Race was great after the track was dried from a one hour rain fest. Traffic home was a b****.

Tajon, anytime your in Miami, just call me.
305-984-6453. For that matter, anyone whose in town just call, see if we can't connect. Most weekends, if its not raining (can be threatening just not raining), I will be at some small show trying to get a cheap trophy. Smiler

JFB. I'm telling you I did try. I said the keys are in the ignition, I'll ride along, you drive. Guess he was just too afraid of the scandal since it was a Ford event. My guess is his handlers would have intervened anyway...there must have been twenty "Ford" guys in white shirts making sure he was OK.
You did good. Ford did so many special projects Edsel is still amazed and impressed.

Some of those white shirts were body guards. Normally no one gets near him.

Lots of "young Turks" at Ford. No name and no face to the public. Them you need to look out for.

Your car looks great and you did a great dead for the DT Marque.

"Ford" will be thinkin' about ya'. Big Grin
This reminds me of a humorous story...

A buddy of mine used to race Alfas in SCCA many years ago. He tells the story of a drunken night when they took a race car onto the track, going the wrong direction (on purpose) around the track.

As they got around to the last (1st) corner, they saw all kinds of people waving flashlights at the start/finish line. They pulled to a stop there, and several officials were there to tell them that they were in big trouble and that the track owner would undoubtedly toss them all off the property.

My buddy turned around to the back seat and asked the track owner if that was true?

Sorry for the hijack.

Did a google search on Edsel, this one quote came up.

That Mustang was my first car and one of my favorites," he said. "Seeing the photos that were discovered in the Ford archives brought back many fond memories."

So we know three things, he loves Mustangs, he has many fond memories and he selected a Pantera over his beloved Mustangs at a car show dominated by Mustangs. Got to love being a Pantera owner.
