Hmmm, I like the radar idea...
Why not do what the Hotrodders do and have a retractible plate that you can raise and lower when you want to? Should be an easy hookup or maybe just some ideas to fab your own.

Air dam near completion. The photo shows the back portion as it rolls into the back wheel well. This is one area which never looked completely finished on the fiberglass airdam and I am pleased how it came out.

Aluminum air dam is done. I finished the welding last night. Sanded the aluminum 80 grit so primmer would stick well and shot it with Etch primer last night.
The center forward portion of the hood will open or close depending on cooling needed and track events. The rear portion will have a screen or vent of some sort. Have a few things in mind.
