In the past, I have written against the use of a filter on the suction of a fuel pump, because the parts were simply not engineered to work that way.

Well, RobbMc Performance has just released a line of fuel filters DESIGNED for the suction of mechanical & vane type electric fuel pumps. These high flow, compact filters are rated to only drop pressure 0.5 psi at rated flow. BITCHEN.

Answer:
A prefilter makes a great post filter as long as the micron rating is small enough. Our 40 micron filters work great as post filters.

In general, a prefilter is overkill when used as a post filter. A filter placed before a pump must be a lot freer flowing than a post filter because it is on the vacuum side. A post filter is on the pressure side and need not flow as freely to achieve the same number of gallons per hour.
