Mooso,
My 72 Pantera with the dash 2 box has the taller 5th gear, .642 I think, from RBT. With my BFG 285/40-18 rear tires, I have seen 164 on my gps. My tach is not reliable, I have a 6500 rev limiter and I had not hit the limiter when I ran out of road. I have a 377 stroker that was either making 304 or 326 HP to the rear wheels.

I would think that with the wider ratio gear set like what Art is talking about and a pinion set in the 3.5 to one range, you will either exceed 200 miles per hour or run out of horsepower> So instead of gear limiting your top end, you will now be limited only by drag on your car. To get to 250 miles per hour you will need about a thousand horsepower. But a mere five hundred horse power should get you over two hundred ok.
Gears for an "obsolete" box like a Dash 2 are hard to get and expensive. I know...I had mine rebuilt a couple of years ago. So I figure that there must be a limited selection of tall gears and their effect on top speed must be pretty general knowledge among the experts. I'm trying to find out what I can actually get and what the results will be.
Mooso.
