I had a dash one transaxle refreshed years ago by a major vendor and FINALLY it is back in the Goose with the linkage hooked up. Unfortunately, things don't seem right....at the lever, the 'feel' of the box is strange, no matter how I adjust the linkage. With the lever in what seems to be the 'neutral' position, there is very little (if any) sense of spring centering to the middle gate, especially compared to a Pantera, but I think less than there should be for a Goose even. If the lever is moved into where 2nd should be, it gives the expected 'click' as it moves forward, but the lever can still move significantly left and right, almost as if the transaxle is still in neutral. (The turnbuckle is tight, I have visually confirmed no slipping there). Similar situation if the lever is moved into the third gear area. The difference is there is no nice 'click' going into third; it feels as if full engagement is limited by a mechanical obstruction of some kind (again, it does not appear related to linkage or the gear lever assembly or lever housing). Has anybody experienced this sort of situation with a rebuilt transaxle?

I have not opened the selector mechanism yet....in part because I'm not sure if there are any fittings or connections there that might be slipping and causing the strange feel at the lever. Appreciate any thoughts - I'd LOVE to avoid pulling this box again and shipping it back to the vendor for inspection! Thanks, Nate S
