Can anyone differentiate between the GT4 flares sold by the various different vendors.I know for a fact a couple of the vendors use the same supplier/manufacturer for the the flares, but i'm sure that 'Hall's' seem to be much rounder than the others.
It would not be fair to ask people what their preference is, but, it would be nice to know that there is possibly choice in the design people can have.
This leads onto another strange question in that would a Panteras value be affected if a unique bespoke body kit was created as opposed to using a GT4, GT5..etc body kit?

Not in my opinion. It all depends on how it looks to whoever is considering buying it. If the workmanship is good and the look is good, it may help sell the car.
I don't know why people don't want group 5 flares though. I have seen only one surviving Pantera with them and it looks friggen awesome. Whiplash is a REAL Group 5.
BD,

Having been through the GT4 flares purchase and returned them, I can attest to the fact there is quality/fit issues with at least one vendor and he gets his from a common pool. Apparently Dennis Quella has a different source and I was told his were the best fit.

Having said that and addrssing the second part of your post, if you are talking about fabricating 'unique' body kits you could probably easily fabricate the GT4 flares as well.

There are a number of unique bodies out there, one of the best I have seen was in Vegas last year on a red Pantera license 'BAD 74' which had been widened at the rear by sectioning out the rear fenders, similar to a GRP5 look. I'll try and dig out some photos to post, as DeTom says the GRp5 look is 'badass'.

Joules,

I was told by multiple vendors that PPI had the best quality flairs. They happen to be the choice of my purchase. I have no fit them yet ... but in a overall look at them ..they are nice guage metal appear to be close to perfect in the roll method they used ... I have not see othe other vendors flairs ... only time will tell.

I'm embarassed to mention that I did not know that such a car named the Group 5 existed.Could yourself or 'Joules' post a picture. Please !!
BD,

Here's a link to an 'Info-mercial' made about 'Whiplash' Dave Adlers Group 5, but it's diffciult to see the real body of the car when it's flying past the camera. So below are a couple photos of a Factory Group 4 that was converted to Group 5 back in 1975. BTW, this car was recently for sale in London.

Funny the Group 5 should come up, I had a 1/28 Group 5 scale model kit I won on ebay arrive just yesterday.

Iam a bit late on this thread...been away alot...but i must say this is why this website is so awesome...within a few minutes i read and see a whole bunch of guys all with awesome ideas, and like & dislikes here on one spot...lots of options,... where else does that exist...nowhere that i no of...well done all and thks for taking the trouble to post ....It wont work with out u'all....
BullDog.....My pennies worth:- Agin if u like the smooth look then u would mold the flares into ur body carefully...lots of work, but if u wanted it to just fit perfectly without work...it wont happen..Theres a lot of hectic compound curves here.Perhaps with the expensive metal ones.....I have no knowledge of these, being finacially impaired myself..so I used a old cheap set of Hall's fibre-glass GRP4 "riveted" types flares. - I was going for the factory GRP4 look,....We've got it looking 'right', - to us...and have now just finished the molds for the carbon ones we will eventually make up to use..(have also made up carbon molds for our frt.& rear decklids with 'cooling' scoops and door skins) Plus odds and ends like big, full-width protruding 'Bunny Ear' side scoops that work... Remember awhile ago,- the long threads/dicussing this all; concerning the airflow around the car at speed and how effectivly the air canor cant be inducted...the scoops needing at least a 6inch protrusion to actually 'catch' or bring the airflow into the car ...if they arent 'out in the air ' as much as that they will still function at slow speeds; letting out the hot air from engine bay...a very good thing, and cosmetically looking good if its your taste..but in using the bigger ones one gets a futher advantage in that the air-flow is forced (at speed) from the scoops toward the carb or carbs and downward out the bottom of the car....apparently without this there is a opposite flow of air up and out the engine compartment (again only at speed). Will post pics soon as we have this stuff ready...mean time check out my old #6295 revving thru 'old-type' 180's and Webers, (sound & pic) on my new website. Have fun....
