Hi all, new member, glad to be here!

I have a quick wheel question. Are there any suppliers for the original style GT 5 wheels? I can't find them anywhere, either aftermarket or original.

Any info or leads is greatly appreciated. I attached a picture of the wheels I'm referring to, just in case I'm explaining them completely incorrectly.

Thanks!

Even used, the wheels do not come cheap. You will be looking at over $3,000 for a set, and then you will be well advised to spend a few hundred dollars per wheel getting them stripped, Zyglow tested, crack-repaired, stress relieved (annealed) and baked (to prevent outgassing) and then either sealed with Zinc Chromate prior to painting or else Powder Coated (and left in the oven to cool gradually overnight). Larry Stock does this job properly, but at a cost of over $400 per wheel.

The "parts for sale" section here on the PIBB is a good place to look. I have also seen them advertised on the back page of the POCA Newlsetter.

Good luck.

Thanks for the welcome, I attached a picture. Some of you might recognize the car from it's previous owner.

I'm tracking the car a bunch, so I'm on a hunt for wheels that are more suited for the road course than the current ones. I know the GT5/group 4 wheels will perform well, and they look great too. The current wheels are flawless so I might keep them for street use, but we'll see.

Pwear,

Welcome... to the middle of the board! (From Monty Python's 'The Meaning of Life' : "Welcome... to the middle of the film!", Anyway...)

Good memory, Mark. When I got my 5-S It had the stock wheels on it, but I sold them to Marc in Colorado years ago. You can expect to pay a minimum of 3k (more likely 4k+) for a set with tires. Getting replacement 15" tires in those sizes is an issue, and will only get worse.

The vendors sell repro wheels in 17" and 18" sizes. They do look like the originals, only bigger.

Where in Westchester are you? I'm from The Bronx (now in Fairfield County, CT., and accobra is originally from Yonkers).

Mark ... Michael answered that one for you .... there is a guy pumping out stock restored Pantera's over here in Nothern NJ and 2 weeks ago at the Saddle River car show I asked him about GT5 wheels and he said he has a set ... but 2 other P owners were standing there with me so ???? I will drive by his shop and ask him ...

Pwear and Cybo we should meet at the car show in pleasantville one sat night..they meet every sat night ... for got the name of the ??????Hill Show.

Thanks, I'll take a look at some of the vendors. I'm in New Rochelle, and unfortuntately can't venture to far out with the car because I'm on a suspended license until October. Long story, but I basically received three speeding tickets within 18 months, and two of them were issued on the same ticket slip so it put me over the limit. You are all welcome to join me on the drive to and from my work and home though, haha. I'm a mechanic at a small shop in New Rochelle.

I'll gladly stop by, I'll hitch a ride with my girlfriend. I actually grew up lusting after my particular Pantera because it was owned by a family member, but I've only seen one other Pantera in person in my lifetime, and that was many years ago. I think I'd need to change my shorts if I saw two or more sitting side by side Eeker

Awesome cars, looking forward to making mine as spotless as those. Hard to do on a semi-dedicated race car, but it's nice to have goals, haha.

I've been following the Pocono-CSD threads on this site, looked like an amazing event. Not sure if you guys do the HPDE events in the North East, but you can usually find me hanging around pocono, watkins glen, etc. during them. I was planning on doing the circuit again this season but it may have to wait a year unless I can arrange a trailer to the events. We'll see.
Pwear,

About a months ago I got two speeding tickets in NY on 87. I googled and found a local law firm near Albany who handled it for me. They turned the two speeding tickets into other infractions - one became "illegal parking" and the other "failure to obey signal."

The fines were cut in half, no points, and no two strikes out of three.

Cost was about the same when you add in the legal fees, but a lot easier as I travel to or thru NY often.

If you want to join us in Kingston, we'll come get you in our Pantera Trailer. I'm sure there are others around NY, NJ and CT who would want to share a ride. At least you can drive in Ontario!
