I've been in thinking mode for awhile on swapping an HID conversion H4 bulb into my Vader capsules.

Hi/Low comes in a hi HID with low Halogen in the same bulb, and a HID that is magnetically moved to alter the focal point for hi/low.

Anyone been there-done that with either of these styles?

They have come way down in price - like most things electronic - and I can get a set to my door for about $135.

I have these in h4 hi lo in my daily drive car.
I think they work well, high beam is not as awesome, but do work well.
mine are 8 or 10,000k so are quite blue. But I would do it again.
People say they yellow the reflector, but mine has been in for 2 years and been ok. They do take a second to warm up, but after that no probs.
Also they only use 35 watts which means less elec issues, also you need a battery wire as well.

Paul,

That sounds like you have the HID low, and the Halogen hi...known as H4-2 ??

I think the other style is what I'm going with - it magnetically moves the HID filament, giving different focal points and thus varying the light...known as H4-3. Do you know which version you have?

Nah the one I have is the HID hi lo kit, where it moves the globe up and down.It cost an extra $100 for that feature, what I meanby doesn't work all that well is, it moves the globe but perhaps not high enough or something, mind you I had to relign the headlights after fitting them as they are so bright normally people can get cranky !One of mine the shuts off after 15 or so mins, then you turn em off and back on and it's fine, i think it is the box.mine are a cheap china brand, so I suppose that is to be expected !!
Still worth getting !!

Larry - Be sure to post the source (URL?) and part number for these once you figure it out for the rest of us. I've been thinking about this for some time and waiting for prices to come down, so I'd like to do this too.

Will do Garth, I've been emailing a guy with Mikrouna who posted on Craig's List. Yup, a China cheapo firm but at least they have a website and appear somewhat stable.

I'm giving him a call this week and see what else he has to say.

I'll inquire about a group buy and see if that goes anywhere.
