An amp meter that goes, as you put it, crazy, may well be doing so because the connections on the back of the gauge have become loose. This can be a high electrical resistance problem that results in high heat and fire in its worst outcome. Please check the connections on the back of your amp gauge.

Make sure to prevent the amp gauge studs from rotating when you tighten nuts or you can damage the internal wiring

I see this question was posted late at night, George. Us older guys need to get to bed early before our daily quota of thinking clearly has been all used up.

And yes, I too have been confused by postings until I realized the missing info was "hidden" in the topic title.

This getting older stuff can be difficult at times. Big Grin

But it still beats the alternative.
