Dennis the wiring diagram is below.

Here's some troubleshooting guidance:

start at the fuse box:

Insure fuses 1, 2, 5 & 6 arer all good and making good contact in their fuse sockets.

Turn the headlight rocker switch "on", and pull the turn signal stalk back towards the driver, check for power to fuses 5 & 6. Then push the turn signal stalk towards the dash board, check for power to fuses 1 & 2.

You should findings should be:

(1) All the fuses have power but the headlights don't work. Your Pantera has a wiring problem between the fuse box and the headlights OR a grounding problem at the headlights.

(2) One set of fuses has power, but the other set does not. Your Pantera has a bad dimmer/turn signal asssembly, or one of the two wires supplying the fuses is disconnected (gray or green with black stripe).

(3) None of the fuses has power. Your Pantera has a bad headlight rocker switch, a bad dimmer/turn signal assembly, a disconnected white or pink wire, or the gray & green with black stripe wire pair supplying the fuses is disconnected.

To further diagnose condition #3:

Expose the back of the headlight rocker switch, turn it to the "on" position, check for power at terminal 8.

(1) If there is power to terminal #8, then your Pantera has a bad dimmer/turn signal assembly, the white wire is disconnected or the gray & green with black stripe wire pair supplying the fuses is disconnected.

(2) If there is no power to terminal #8, then your Pantera has a bad headlight rocker switch, or the pink wire is disconnected.

Derek, my Pantera had the same problem. Your wiring is OK, the headlight lamps installed in your car have reverse oriented pins, so the high beams are energized by low beam circuit, and vice versa.

Thanks George,
The odd thing is that the stalk works the correct way.
Pull back for low beam, push for high beam.
I think someone has been messing with the wiring, maybe they reverse the connections on the stalk too.

When I first got the Pantera the headlamp doors opened on the first click of the lamp switch.
So to park with the parking ligths on I had to stop, turn the lights completely off (so the headlamps closed), turn off the ignition, then turn back on the parking lights. I fixed this but high beam light still works backwards.
Well as usual you guys came to the table with valuable info.
This weekend I drove my 72L up to Lake Arrowhead, were I played on the lake and worked on my car. I finally got my headlights working and after 5+ years this bad boy will be back on the road at night. hehehe
all the auto meter gauges aswell.
THANKS again Guys
Dennis
