The early/late differences are slight. Mounting is the same, headlight trim and all is the same. The fender openings differed a bit in size, and the doors followed. When 2511 was repaired, the bodyman had to weld up/extend the door to give the same gaps on the repaired fender as the original door had on the undamaged fender. Nothing a good body man anywhere would not be able to handle.

I got the skinny on this one. My early pushbutton1362 had bolts through the door into the mount. I bought a replacement from a later car..it had studs out the back, and in different positions. I had to drill new holes and remove the studs. I still have an unacceptible gap that will be fixed like Larry says.
I have a bit of "experience" with the early/late fender-headlight bucket saga. If memory serves me correctly #2729 is where the change was made. The headlight openings on the fenders differ by like 3/16", and thus the headlight buckets were made to compensate for the difference.
