My car is #3040.  I turned on the headlights and the buckets came up about an inch then stopped. I turned the switch off, and after a few seconds, the buckets closed. I tried this several times with the same result.

I haven't done any work on the headlight system (relay-limit switches-wiring)

Would this be an indication of a broken plastic gear?

Thanks, Paul

Got a new gear today. Removed the assembly from the bottom after removing the front wheel and splash shield. Replaced the broken plastic gear with the new brass gear. Put it all back together, and the metal drive gear would not engage the headlight bar gear enough. I ended up taking the assembly out again and enlarged the 3 mounting holes on the assembly so I could get better gear engagement. Put it back together again (it is a pain getting to the 3 bolts!) and it works as it should!  Thanks for all your help

Paul
