I have to pull out my headlamp motor. Mine is frozen. Seems to be kaput. There is plenty or current running to it.

The shop manual isn't as specific as I would like it to be.

Can I get the motor out without taking out the mounting bracket and removing the radiator? Anyone with an easy way to do this?

I know, easiest way to do it is to get someone else to.

if you have current to the motor, but the headlight mechanism is not operating it may very well be the gear in the housing. the stock gear is made of plastic and they break all the time and jam up. they are the same gear that works the window mechanism. if the gear is not the problem now it probably would be in the future. all of the vendors sell replacement gears made out of brass (or bronze, maybe)including the sponsor of this website. I would replace it while you have the assembly apart.

It took awhile to figure out how to get it out.

I didn't have time to pull it apart yet but once it was out I hot wired it to the battery and it acts like it is jammed.

It could very well be that the gear is broken.

It appears to be similar to the power window set up.
I have those motors and gears since I changed over to Aerostar motors.

One had a plastic gear and one had a bronze gear in them so either way I have all the parts.

I let everyone know what I find.

Thanks for the advice.
what ever happened - did you fix your problem

My headlights will not come up - I pulled the motor - gears & motor are fine I replaced my micro switches and reinstalled - still will not go up any ideas ? note - when I turn on the headlights - the headlights do not go up- but they are not turned on - should they at least be on even though they are still down ? I did not think being up or down effected it they were actually on

thanks
