When I activate the Headlamps the gauges on the console increase thier readouts, I understand that this caused by electrical draw but I need some advise on how to resolve the concern.

Possible voltage regulator problem or poor ground.
I have played with this for while. I have noticed that the guages peg over when you turn on the running lights. not so much the headlights.
Make sure you check the ground lug that is under the dash, left of the tach. You will have to lay under the dash to see it. Jack also said to try and eliminate some of those grounds, by frame grounding them. If you have elec. prints you will see how all the ckts go back to that ground. I haven't done all mine yet, waiting until winter after I put the cat to bed.
I have a nice new "heated" garage to work on it.
