Its been hot here in Ventura all last week, Debbie says its supposed to start cooling tomorrow, but only just a bit.

I admit I'm spoiled by Ventura's "central coast" weather. That's why I moved to California's central coast when I retired. Our little condo doesn't have air conditioning, and doesn't need it most of the time. But we're just east west of a major desert, and just north of a tropical zone. Climate patterns only need to shift a bit to impact us. As I get older the occasional hot/humid weather like we're experiencing this week gets harder on me.

I hope all of you are doing well this weekend (I'm running low on scotch, but the retirement check doesn't come until Tuesday. Eeker )

thinking of you

I thought it's always 75 and sunny in CA? Or is that only in the winter?

I was in Orange County all week testing the new cat. You think it was hot outside? Just try spending some time inside this monster with no rear glass, semi open engine access and a totally stripped interior. The heat was pouring in from everywhere.

Wow! No matter how fast I went and how much air was passing by, it was still crazy hot! Exhilarating none the less. Cool

We've had a couple heat waves here lately, over 100 for a few days. If possible those are the days I stay inside with the AC on and don't venture out.

I DID just coat my roof and west facing wall of the house with this stuff called Solarflex.

I'm a hard sell on snake oil type products, but this stuff WORKS!

Temps in the house and garage are 20 or more degrees cooler, and the house inside temps are more equal throughout (one side used to get really hot, one side would be icy cold with the AC) now the whole house stays cool, and the AC barely even needs to turn on.
It's like a steam bath from July to October around here, you will literally break into a sweat just walking out to the mail box. Aug/Sep are hot and steamy, the afternoon rain is the only thing that saves the day. When I was a kid, I remember "it being hot" but I really don't recall "being hot"... Now, I feel like I will burst into flames from the car to the door.
We may start climate chasing ourselves soon.... Once Halloween gets here all is right with the world, high pressure, dry air... Perfect!...
I just got back from Anchorage, Alaska. All week was in the 70's and my emplyees back were complaining about the high humidity and 117 temps. I felt really bad for them, for about a minute. Of course when I flew back to Arizona and got off the plane at 10:30 pm and it was 103 out, I wished I was back in Alaska!
