Anyone have any experience with replacing the metal heater tubes under the console? Replacing the heater core/ac evaporator has turned into a nightmare! Started out the hi-efficiency evaporator I got from one of the vendors. After waiting almost 4 months to get it, it had the wrong size fittings on both the inlet and outlet fittings of the heater core, I cut them off my old one, flared the one side and soldered the other side and pressure tested it, it leaked internally!! Rather than send it back I took it to my local radiator repair shop who was able to fix it.
I was concerned about the condition of the heater tubes, so I tried to clean them up. I poured some ospho in them and flushed it out and when I was going to pour some EXTEND in there I noticed that there were holes in the one tube where they had rusted through under the hose connection.

Anyone have any experience with somehow replacing those tubes? I don't want to get involved in cutting/welding the shift tunnel, I was thinking about the possibilty of running stainless or aluminum tubes under the car and up through the floor.

Any ideas?
