Ahhh... I just installed a set of auto guage carbon fiber guages, the same type PIM sells. Everything worked fine, except the fuel gauge. Now I know usually they are not calibrated correctly so you stick in more resistors to change the Ohmz so empty actually reads at the empty sign.

But the problem is, once I hook the gauge up with a full tank, it goes pass FULL, and max. out it's travel on the needle.

I have a feeling the guage is reading it backwards on the ohms.

But on the instructions, it says it works with Most ford vehicles as well. And it also shows it working with fuel senders that has a High ohm when full and low ohm when empty, AS WELL AS Low ohm when full and high ohm when empty.

Question is... How do I fix it without taking the engine out and changing the fuel sender? Is there some how a way to Reverse ohms?... help i'm very stuck... Any help is greatly appreicated!

Best Regards,
Larry

First, the stock Veglia-Borlotti fuel gauge & zender is the only dependable gauge in the car and I'd think a long time before changing a working gauge. The stock sender reads 0.0 ohms when full and about 200 ohms when empty. Your autometer is undoubtably reversed and no amount of resistors will fix it.
Second, to remove the stock sender, simply use a large, taped-up flat-blade screwdriver between the chrome rear quarter window frame & body, and carefully pry the whole window assembly out of the car. There are no screws; its held in only by gasket friction. Remove the sheet-metal gas tank cover and the sender can then be unscrewed & pulled out thru the window opening without disturbing the powertrain at all. Good luck modifying an Autometer sending unit to read anything like accurately in the tall, peculiarly-shaped Pantera gas tank. Many of us remove the glass from the frame, then put back ONLY the chrome frame, gaining easy access to the big rear window for cleaning.
A FULL tank SHOULD send the needle past FULL!! But If you think the gauge is reading reversed, just reverse the polarity of the + and - wires. All ELECTRICAL gauges are milliampmeters!! Marlin.
