As the owner of a 1972 DeTomaso Pantera, I am ALL for my car's monetary appreciation, ALTHOUGH, I would question a "$80,000.00" valuation, as I believe comparables would be DIFFICULT to obtain in an Apples to Apples comparison...Mark

Might I inquire what the previous valuation was & the yearly premium "vs" the subsequent new valuation & premium?...Mark

I can say we were at $45k to $65k and the premiums went up $40.

A fellow PCNC member upped his coverage to $100K 2 years ago because he had a small accident that cost $50K to repair - the entire insured value of his car previously. Frankly, the insurance company wanted to total the car, but spending the $50K to repair it properly would net him a far superior car than he could have purchased at that time for $50K. Insurance companies typically want to 'total' a vehicle when repair estimates approach 70-80% of the vehicle's value, so he just made sure there was sufficient margin to properly fix his car should anything happen in the future.

This makes "No Sense" to myself.
A very NICE DeTomaso Pantera can be purchased in the $50,000.00 range.
What "small accident"/$50,000.00 can happen to a $50,000.00 DeTomaso Pantera, that doesn't TOTAL the car???!!!...Mark

Plus insurance companies are in the business to MAKE MONEY!!...I DON'T see them paying $100,000.00 for a Pantera, when COMPS WON'T support that valuation.
I believe ANY member would have a difficult time supporting a $100,000.00 valuation for their Pantera!!!, unless of course it was a RARE GT5.
Here's a "perfect example"...VERY NICE 1971 Pantera, "restored" can be BOUGHT for LESS than HALF of $100,000.00!!!...Mark

What is very nice to one person is well not always the case. I see on this add a basic car and it is priced accordingly, but a well done car executed with style is worth much more, my engine is worth more than 25,000.00, insurance is cheep.
