Vince,

With no response yet, I'll chime in. And perhaps show my ignorance. But I have never heard of hollow coil-over springs. I do know there are hollow sway bars. Lighter is the advantage to them, but the washers welded to them to prevent left/right movement can serve as stress points and allow cracking to occur.

Can you provide more info on hollow coil springs? Never too old to learn something new ;-)

Same rules apply as far as lightness, plus their on the suspension. I've read that their 40% or so lighter. I believe they're OEM on some of the pricier German cars. They're not the kind of thing that you'd go out and buy unless you were changing them anyway as I am. I've got the hollow sway bars and they are a lot lighter. I might contact Koni as I'll have my shocks redone anyway this winter. Vince
