Does anyone know the length and if needed threaded end for the hood release cable? I am wanting to have a more stout cable made to prevent breakage. Do to the "drive it while I can" weather I'd rather not remove mine to take the measurments. Any help would be very appreciated.

Hi Ron,

Rather than all that trouble, haven't you added an emergency auxillary cable? Ford even had a TSB and upgrade kit for this. 16" or so of aircraft cable, a small hole drilled in the pedal box, loop cable through latch mechanism arm and crimp to itself with a compression sleeve, and another crimp/sleeve around a washer or round key ring dangling inside the pedal box.

This is # 1 of my "famous" under $20 fixes for every Pantera.

My 30+year old car is still using the original cable with no problems. Why not buy a NOS unit from your favorite vendor?

You'll be good for another 30+ years.
