Hood Trunk Liner, What's the best way

This BB's sponsor just came out with a kit for this.

Gotta be glue. Don't see any other practical way. Could always give PIM a call.

It looks like tool box drawer matting. I would guess spray adhesive.

Mine is glued - looks like "Evostik" contact adhesive (it was in there when I bought the car).

Does anyone out there that has installed a liner like this care to comment on whether it really had any effect on noise level in their car or whether it is just more of a cosmetic addition?? Have always wondered??

I also wondered how they would hold up over time; esecially the trunk liner in the engine compartment and as to what materials are being used.

My '74 had a vinyl kit installed on both front and rear lids. It looked like a spray type of adhesive was mainly used, with a weatherstripping type of glue used on the edges. My guess is that it was there a very long time and was coming down.

My '86 Pantera has a carpet kit installed that looks similarly installed. It has only been there for a few years and is coming down in the engine bay.

I think they are used for cosmetic reasons.

Maybe it is that gray foam insulation that has the sticky back you peel off???
