How hard is it to remove the studs that hold the trans mounts?

I broke one of the studs that holds the transaxle mount to the transaxle. there is at leat 1/2" sticking out. It broke flush with the nut. Can I stick a vise grip on and turn it out. Or heat it and then do that? Any advise. Also do you think I can drive it with 2 on one side and 3 on the other? I was hoping to wait a bit before dealing with this.

Thanks a lot. That was great info. I will leave it for now, and when everything else is done, or I have to pull the trans again I will replace the stud then.

Great Idea. I thought I might have enough to get two narrow nuts and tighten them together. I definitely have enough stud for that. I was not familiar with the poly-lock nut, but as soon as I saw an image I realized that that should work.
