Make sure you spark plug wires are ALL hooked up. I looked today because I suspected it and sure enough, there was one dangling down by the header completely unhooked. So if you see one like that just plug it back in and you get a big HP boost AND better fuel milage.
Now if you ever see two dangling down side by side, DON"T HOOK THEM UP. Close the hood and go find an adult. It can blow up your engine!! Eeker

If you put the wrong wire on the right plug, your engine will blow up. Don't aske me how I know this but it is absolutly, positively true. You would think they would make it so you can't put the wrong one in the right place, but they didn't. So ya gotta be real, real careful like or you will be sweeping up your engine in a dust pan.

A very long story, but in 2001 I adjusted the valve lash on my solid-lifter motor, and the engine just ran like a dog's breakfast. I could barely keep the engine running, and it would stall if I took my foot off the gas.

I asked Mike Drew, who was riding with me, to take a peek and see if perhaps two wires were crossed, as you suggest. Let's just say that the reason for my poor running engine was obvious - we forgot to connect HALF of the spark plug wires! There were 4 wires laying on the trunk area... I was amazed that the car ran that WELL considering it was only running on 4 cylinders!
