Hurricane Sandy is the huge super-storm that is battering the eastern US.

We have many members living in the path of Sandy, and other members have loved ones impacted by the storm. We want each of those members to know we are thinking of them and/or their loved ones, that they are in our thoughts, those who pray are praying for you, and we are all sending warm wishes your way.

I realize electric power and internet services may be down, but those living in the storm's path who can read this please check-in and let us know how you're doing.

Be safe.

The area I live in got pounded with 80 mph winds. I just had a few trees ripped from the ground, nothing hit the house, but there were branches stuck in the ground about 18"... and other trees were snapped off 1/2 way up ( looks like a scene from WW2. During the storm it was amazing the Lightning made the sky look like daylight for long bursts ... I took some pictures. Power just came back yesterday to my street because we have a pumping station down at the end. Some are still without power. The gas stations have lines miles long, they say the gas barges couldn't get up the Hudson because the land and sea containers were washed out to sea and the barges were hitting them. The Pictures show many other areas devastated. The unusal part is it was the same day last year we got hit with a storm ... hope this is not what we have to look forward next year ... spring I'm cutting all the damn trees down near my house ...

Really dodged a bullet here in Central Jersey. Lost power for 4 days. It came back on Friday late afternoon. My neighbor however was not as lucky. A 24" diameter tree toppled over, root ball and all and went thru his roof landing in his bedroom about 2 feet above their bed. The only reason he wasn't seriously injured or killed was that he and his wife decided to sleep in the living room that night. It also slightly damaged his garage containing his 1976 Lincoln Continental and his 1967 Olds Starfire.
Theres trees down everywhere. But the worst that I've seen is the Jersey Shore. Go to Youtube and look at some of the videos. Seaside Heights boardwalk is gone. Belmar boardwalk is gone. Major tourist attractions for the state of New Jersey have been wiped out. Entire towns along the coast are under water. Those are the people we need to help the most.
The worst part is here (Copied from the Pantera Mailing List...)

Unfortunately, 6516 maybe gone. Waiting for the insurance company to declare it a total loss. There's nothing like watching sea water filling up the interior of your car in the garage and seeing it go over the seats, I had to hold back the tears. I'll know in a couple of days what the outcome will be....

I looked up the car in the ProvaMo registry, and it was beautiful. A real tragedy...
