Ignition Recommendations

Can anyone make a recommendation on a reliable ignition replacement for the stock Pantera distributor. Has anyone tried the Pertronix module inside a stock distributor? I have a stock distributor that the previous owner swapped the points out for a Hayes breakerless unit which appears to have died.

Hi, and welcome to the PI BB.

I replaced the dual points in my Mallory dist with a Pertronix Ignitor in my '74. The dist body at this point only has the weights and springs in it to control the spark advance curve. I've had it in my Pantera for about 2 1/2 - 3 years now and it's operation has been flawless.

The Ignitor will do it's thing whether it's in a Mallory, or a stock Ford dist. Once you remove the internals, any dist just becomes a housing only controlling spark advance.
