Here is another Pantera with a BMW engine. Its a 1973 first owner car with an M5 V8 with over 450 HP on the dyno.
I had the pleasure of riding along for a day during the 2005 meeting in Holland. Its a real animal with 2 set rpm limits, 1 at 7.500 rpm and 2 at 9.000 rpm. All at the touch of a button.
As you might be able to see it had a small incident 10 minutes before this picture was taken. At the Assen racetrack he did a 180 after breaking at a 140 mph at the end of the mainstraight. Fortunatly there is a long run off area with some tirestacks at the end. He did hit one stack and as you can see the carbon enginelid sheared off its hinges. The firefighters on hand were king enough to lend him their hydraulic press and some wooden blocks so he could push back the panel between the taillights.
The enginelid was prettymuch undamaged and was ducktaped back on for the trip back home to the south of Germany.
