To get back on subject, adding limited-slip agent to clutch-type positraction units "cannot hurt, and may help". Depending on whether your ZF chatters going around low-speed corners, LSD additive will fix that. If the rear wheels don't chatter, the additive is not needed. But most diff lube comes with the stuff already included in the proper amount. Limited-slip chatter shows up better at lower speeds on slippery streets- like in rain, snow or on dirt roads. And after 40 years, many Panteras no longer have a limited slip system aboard.
After going thru this with my Goose, I would definitely say do NOT add LSD to your trans. If your front seal leaks and allows oil on your clutch disc.....guess what gets reduced friction......!? Yes, your clutch disc.

Now, that said, I am running a synthetic Kevlar/Kevlar disc...and with the LSD on it....driving the car was like having an automatic.....step on the gas easy and it was fine, but as soon as you got on it....just like an automatic....RPM's all over the place....until I let off and let it grab again. Your mileage may vary with a conventional disc....not certain...!

Eventually, I had to replace the disc. Not a cheap venture.... Sanded down all the flywheel and pressure plate surfaces too....cleaned and cleaned and cleaned with brake cleaner....... Seems OK now..... Drained the oil out of the ZF, filled it....ran it a little while, then drained it again...... AND replaced the front oil seal. Ugh!

I wouldn't do that again!

I believe it was Valvoline....but could be Castrol. It was basically who ever was available in a gallon jug (these days!).....

I've used it in the past....but the LSD additive was bad juju!!! I should point out that this additive is SEPARATE from your "posi-safe" generic auto store 80-90W. You definitely need to add it to a Ford rearend with postitraction.....or things chatter to hell very quickly.

I must note that the tendency of my ZF to windup on corners diminished and made the car much nicer to drive......right up to the point where the clutch starts slipping and you go nowhere fast.....but I can live with the windup as long as I know it's gonna happen!

I was worried about getting up some of the passes on the way to Phoenix last year!!! Phew!

No to the LSD additive in the transaxle.
A transaxle, as the name implies, is a transmission and a diff in one casing.
LSD additive makes the oil more slippery--so slippery the synchro rings don't grip properly and wear out or the gears crunch.
Use a non-LSD oil like RedLine 75-90 NS. If you get LSD chatter add a TINY amount of LSD additive and repeat if necessary until the chatter disappears.
The synthetic oil is also less viscous at low temps until it warms up, so if you live somewhere cold you might notice smoother shifting.
