Great cars, great people, great day, great event: this year's Italian Car Fest in Grapevine, Texas.
This 4 day event included Italian cars and motorcycles from 10 states and pulled 14 Panteras from all over Texas and Oklahoma and Gary and Sylvia Bartley's new Mangusta. We even had Espen Graffer attend!
Awards went to:
Bill Fraser and his freshly restored 72 Pantera took 1st in the Pantera Class.
Mark and Wanda How were 2nd with their beautiful red Pantera.
Gary and Sylvia Bartley took 2nd in the Mixed Italian Class to an Iso Grifo(?)
owned by another Mangusta owner, Don Mann, from Tennessee.
And in the Winner's Circle for last year's winners were Pat and Sharon Lobb's
black, Weber Carb'ed Pantera, Houston member, Gray Gregory's
Ferrari 250SWB, and former Pantera owner, Andy Tymkiw's 83 Ferrari 512BBi.
Lastly, during the awards ceremony, it was announced that the Pantera is to be the Honored Model in recognition of its 35th anniversary at the 2006 Italian Car Fest.
It was a weekend filled with events including a reception on Friday evening
at the spectacular Gaylord Texan Resort, http://www.gaylordhotels.com/gaylordtexan/, Saturday's car show was held at the Crosstimbers Winery(lookout Napa
Valley,) dinner on Saturday evening also at the Gaylord Texan, and on Sunday,
there was a scenic drive to Texas Motor Speedway for brunch and racing on the
infield course at Texas Motor Speedway, and on Monday, there was motorcycle
racing at Motorsports Ranch.

Since the Pantera is next year's Honored Model, we hope that DeTomaso enthusiasts from all over will be able to bring their cars. Mark your calendars: it's the 2nd weekend in September, 2006. See you there!
